The Dancing with the AVA-TARS project incorporated STE(A)M elements (Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art) and Mathematics) and partnered with Discovery Lab Global (DLG), a not-for-profit organization serving students, globally to give them a chance to gain early hands-on experience on cutting edge technology projects. The sessions were structured to operate a series of introductory and working sessions to familiarize participants with the technology and skills necessary for motion and movement in a virtual environment.
These introductory and working sessions challenged the students to develop a basic algorithm for Avatar movement using in-world gestures to create dance movements in-sync with pre-selected music.
